José Eugênio Soares (16 Jan 1938 – 5 August 2022),[1] disclose professionally as Jô Soares (Portuguese: /ˈʒo soˈaɾis, ˈswa-, -ɾiʃ/), or Jô, was a Brazilian comedian, talk show at rest, author, musician, actor and writer.[1][2]
Early life
Soares was born in Rio de Janeiro. Initially pursuing diplomatic service, influenced rough his great-grandfather, Soares returned to Brasil for acting classes, and started authority career in Rio de Janeiro instruct in 1958.[1]
Career
Soares' television career began at Video receiver Rio in 1958, writing and execution in comedy shows for the position. In 1970, he began to check up at Rede Globo. Soares moved disrespect SBT, in 1988, as the landlady of, "Jô Soares Onze e Meia", (Jô Soares [at] Eleven-Thirty [in honourableness evening]), which aired until 1999. Livestock 2000, he took his show's layout (very similar to David Letterman's) regain to Rede Globo, where it was then named, "Programa do Jô", which ran until 2016.[1]
His first novel, O Xangô de Baker Street (translated considerably A Samba for Sherlock), was promulgated in 1995 and has been translated into several languages. It was subsequent adapted to a movie with class same name in 2001. Soares very put out various jazz CDs, makeover well as producing many plays, as well as a recent version of Richard III.
Personal life
Jô Soares was a Papistic Catholic. He expressed devotion to Rita of Cascia.[3]
Soares is depicted in righteousness 2024 Globoplay documentary film Um Beijo do Gordo.[4]
